This course is designed exclusively for cancer healthcare professionals working in health, wellness and coaching, the Clarity on Cancer framework will help you map out your patients’ treatment options and help them decide on a care plan best suited to their needs and wants. By giving you a thorough grounding in the subject, you will feel more confident in communicating with your patients, and helping them make informed decisions about positive lifestyle changes.
Step 1: Engage
The first step in patient care is engaging patients in their own health goals. The first two modules will help you communicate clearly with your patients and provide insights to help them cope.
Module 1 - Effective coaching
Changing habits following a cancer diagnosis requires a patient to undergo a transformational mind shift. I’ll walk you through your role as a coach in this transformation, and show you how to communicate clearly and effectively to bring your patients on board with this change.
Module 2 - Engaging with empathy
Being diagnosed with cancer is incredibly stressful. In this module, I’ll help you understand the emotional impact and show you some insights from the field of psychoneuroimmunology that you can use to help your patients cope.
Step 2: Equip
The second step will give you tools to equip your patients in decision-making and dealing with their treatment journey.
Module 3 - Explaining cancer clearly
Guiding cancer patients through their different care options starts with understanding: yours and theirs. In this module, I’ll guide you through the principles of cancer biology to build a solid foundation for your continuing development.
Module 4 - Equipping for treatment
Every patient and their cancer is different. To develop the ideal care plan, we must consider all the available options in discussion with the patient to develop a plan that suits their wants and needs. In this module, I’ll walk you through a range of conventional, complementary and alternative therapies to help you and your patients devise their optimal care plan.
Step 3: Empower
The final step in the program will help you to empower your patients to make positive, lasting lifestyle changes.
Module 5 - Empowering for change
To understand how to prevent cancer, we must first understand its causes. Whilst not every cancer is caused by things we can prevent, in this module, I’ll take you through the main classes of factors that can cause cancer, so you can begin to build a picture for your clients of ways they can help prevent secondary disease.
Module 6 - Envisioning YOUR professional framework
Engaging patients in lifestyle changes requires structure and a clear vision. I’ll help you build a professional framework for patient engagement to support your success in coaching patients through their darkest days.
